Therapy can contribute to personal growth, can help individuals develop useful coping strategies for the mental health issues, and can be a powerful tool for overcoming trauma. There is a misconception that therapists “tell” individuals how to “solve their problems.” That could not be further from the truth! Therapists are qualified in providing perspectives on challenges that individuals face and assist them develop ways to care for their emotional needs. The most important thing to note though, when it comes to therapy, is that the outcome is dependent on the amount of effort and cooperation one puts into it.
