AAA Counseling & Consulting Services provides quality care to youth, adults, and families in New Jersey. Our clinicians work with clients experiencing emotional and behavioral health issues. We additionally serve immigrant youth, adults, and families experiencing issues with acclimation and acculturation. At AAA Counseling & Consulting Services, we recognize that each individual’s and family’s history, customs, and beliefs are unique, and contextualize their treatment needs. AAA Counseling and Consulting provides youth, adults, and families with the tools to sustain healthy internal and familial relationships. We seek to educate families about crafting emotionally healthy home environments. We also seek to help youth develop strategies to understand and manage their behavior and emotions.

Our mission is to support and strengthen families as well as help our clients take ownership of their mental health and build self-compassionate pathways to healing.

Cultural Competency

AAA Counseling and Consulting Services provides a warm, judgement-free and friendly atmosphere. Our agency serves the needs of our diverse community by providing culturally sensitive counseling. Our approach is based on the therapist’s recognition and respect of a client’s racial, cultural, religious, and sexual identity.

Accessibility

AAA Counseling and Consulting Services is centrally located to serve residents from Union, Middlesex, and Somerset Counties. Our office is located at 935 Park Avenue, right across the street from Plainfield High School and easily accessible through NJ Transit bus line 819 for those travelling from Edison, Metuchen, Piscataway or South Plainfield (click here for schedule). You can also reach us from Bus line 822 if you are travelling from Edison or North Plainfield (click here for schedule). Another option is the Raritan Valley train line, as AAA Counseling and Consulting Services is located within a mile from the North Avenue, Plainfield train station (click here for schedule).

Frequently Asked Questions

How many therapy sessions will I need?

The frequency of sessions that may be required depends on the kind of issue or problem the client is suffering from. Some clients are able to solve an issue in a shorter period of time while some conditions may require a longer intervention period.

Which insurance companies do you accept?

We accept NJ Children’s System of Care Medicaid, Medicaid Flex Funds, Aetna, Beacon Health/ Value Options, Cigna, Horizon BCBS of NJ, United Healthcare, Self Pay

What will I get out of therapy?

There are many benefits associated with participating in therapy. Therapy can contribute to personal growth, can help individuals develop useful coping strategies for the mental health issues, and can be a powerful tool for overcoming trauma. There is a misconception that therapists “tell” individuals how to “solve their problems.” That could not be further from the truth! Therapists are qualified in providing perspectives on challenges that individuals face and assist them develop ways to care for their emotional needs. The most important thing to note though, when it comes to therapy, is that the outcome is dependent on the amount of effort and cooperation one puts into it.

When can I expect a response?

All calls and messages are responded to during business hours Monday through Friday 9:30am-2:30pm and 2:30 – 8:30 pm in between appointments. The office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and all major holidays. In the case that your call is not answered please leave a voicemail that includes your name and phone number. All calls will be returned within 24 hours. For your confidentiality, please do not submit any personal health information by voicemail.

How do I access IIC and outpatient services for my child?

To access behavioral health services for children and youth, call the NJ System of Care’s 24-hour, toll-free Access Line at: 1-877-652-7624. They will refer you to an agency that can complete a comprehensive biopsychosocial evaluation with the goal of identifying the challenges faced by your family, the strengths and current needs of your family. If you are eligible for services from your Middlesex county or Union county care management organization, they can refer you to AAA Counseling and Consulting for in-home services.
